A layflat book is bound so that every spread lies flat when you open it. That is what you want for a panorama, a landscape that crosses the middle, or a group photo you do not want to lose in the gutter. Pages are printed on a digital press and bound in the workshop. Pictures need at least 200 dpi at print size; the designer warns about small ones, and pages near the spine lose a few millimetres. Layflat pages are mounted on board, so a photo can run across the spread without a gutter.
