Landscape format follows the shape of most camera photos, so less is cropped and more of the scene is kept. With layflat pages the whole spread acts as one wide canvas. Pages are printed on a digital press and bound in the workshop. Pictures need at least 200 dpi at print size; the designer warns about small ones, and pages near the spine lose a few millimetres. Layflat pages are mounted on board, so a photo can run across the spread without a gutter.
