Gloss paper makes photos look bright and saturated, which is great for menus, travel and product flyers. Matte paper is easier to read and to write on, so it suits price lists, invitations and postcards.
Thickness matters as much as the finish. 100 lb text paper is light and cheap to mail in large numbers; 14 pt cardstock feels like a card and survives a trip in a bag.
Not sure? Order a small run first: the quantity discount starts at 10 copies, so a test print costs little.
