Three things matter: how heavy the rim is, how deep it is, and how well the hub turns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Alloy, 30 mm rims<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The standard wheels have a wide alloy rim and 28 spokes front and rear. They are tough, easy to true and cheap to replace, the right choice for winter, commuting and a first season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Light alloy, 35 mm rims<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The light alloy upgrade saves about 380 g at the rim, where it counts most. The bike picks up speed faster and feels livelier on climbs, and the rims are tubeless ready.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Carbon, 50 mm deep<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Deep carbon rims save about 620 g and cut through the air on the flat and in a group. They need a little more care in strong crosswinds and are the one upgrade we recommend riders try before choosing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Keep them true<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Check the spoke tension after the first 200 km and once a season after that.
